Nozomi Train from Tokyo to Kyoto
Tokyo to Kyoto, Japan: June 1, 2013

Train time! This was our first bullet train ride, and we loved it!
The ride is incredibly smooth - you can barely feel the train start moving, but before you know it,
you're flying across the landscape. Mike was able to keep track of our speed using the GPS function on his phone:

MOVIES!

Quiet train in a tunnel. AVI file, 0.5 Mb
Passing through a town. AVI file, 2.3 Mb
Longer video of town with coke can - I love how the things in the foreground look. AVI file, 9.9 Mb
COOL The camera is actually in the correct orientation for this one.
The vertical things in the foreground look like they are at an angle because the train is moving faster than the frame speed of the camera. AVI file, 2.5 Mb
SUPER COOL Mike's video - a longer look at the slanted foreground items. He took this video with his tablet.. AVI file, 62.8 Mb

It's hard to get pictures of Mt. Fuji while traveling at 145-150 mph, but I did my best:
