Recalling the explanation of our trip to Vancouver Island, today is the day! When I was planning the trip, I had told Mike how we would
be "close to" the forest.... "close is relative". Another misread of the map made this pretty much an all-day adventure with a lot of driving. I was quite fond of the yellow flowers along the road.

Having, umm... thoroughly explored Nanimo previously, we stopped for lunch at a Dairy Queen along the way. If you hear Mike say "What are my options?" with an Australian accent, it is because of one of the guests there. He was a burly dude who looked and sounded a bit like Chris Helmsworth. He was there with his fiancee, and it was his first time to a Dairy Queen. He totally did not understand the menu. So, she was trying to help him order, and every step of the way, he would ask (very sincerely and sounding like Chris Helmsworth), "What are my options?" ... over and over again at each step of the process to the point where his fiancee and the cashier couldn't help but bust out laughing, I was trying to pretend I wasn't listening, and Mike was quite amused. (There were only the 5 of us in the restaurant.) They got there eventually - chicken sandwich, sauces, sides, and ice cream all successfully ordered.
