Feeling better after vet visit #2

We went to the regular vet today. They did some chest x-rays and drew blood to test for pancreatitis. Results early next week. The X-rays revealed an arthritis hitch in her back. So, they did a laser pain therapy session on that and another water pack. She has definitely perked up and resumed normal eating and litter habits. The pain treatment is supposed to last 3 days.

Waiting for the hospital discharge paperwork. Carrier, sweet carrier. Ziggy was happy to be loaded up and one step closer to heading home.

The cat loaf says she is done with this place. Urine and blood work looks good for a cat her age except blood sugar and dehydration. Blood sugar is in the same range as it has been for the last year and a half. We are going to do a water pack and anti nausea meds. If that doesn't get her eating, then the vet believes she is having increased issues with diabetes and would need to start with insulin. Fingers crossed the hydration therapy works.

Thinking of snappy comebacks for when the vet comes back.... Spoilers: it didn't work the new technician said Ziggy is now with "the tech who loves the spicy kitties".... Extensive blood work in progress to check kidneys and blood sugar issues, since she has both and they could be exasperated by her not eating much this week

At the ER vet with Ziggy this morning. She hasn't been feeling all week, with substantially reduced appetite and water intake. Hoping she is just dehydrated from a bad cold, wanted to get it dealt with quickly due to her age and kidney problems. She's still feisty, though! We very quickly went from "Ziggy is so cute!" to a delivery of Ziggy wrapped up in the towel from her carrier after they moved me to a private room. Vitals were good, no fever. Waiting for the vet shift change to complete.

When you were planning to take a sick day, but showed up for work anyhow because you're really not sure if your employee can work unsupervised.

Ziggy is spending the morning in a closet cubby. She hasn't been feeling well, vet appointment made for Friday. We are hoping it is just a cold, since she started sneezing last night.

Happy 4th gotcha day to Ziggy - who is extra fabulous today with her cardboard bling (see first picture) . 4 years ago, at the age of 11 1/2, a sweet Ziggle joined us from the Cat Care Society , where she was in solitary due to an inability to get along with others (the Meow Mart - 2nd and 3rd pictures are from adoption day in 2019). While she was hissy and bitey, I could just sense she was my cat. She hissed at her Catdad for 2 days until he started giving her treats every night, and they have been best friends since. Looking forward to many more fun years with our senior sweetie! ..

Ziggy provided supervision for my furniture moving project. All of the furniture has been moved from the deck to the basement. I set it up as a second sitting area for a family gathering we are having next weekend. ..

People always marvel that Ziggy goes out in the snow. She walks out willingly... even asks to go out ... and it's her idea to end up with a belly covered in snow. She has lots of fur between her toes and many many layers of undercoat fur, so it doesn't bother her And she has spent the past 4 years with this crazy person who also likes to frolic in the snow.

@besarmerah - in complete contrast to all the crazy flooding by you, it is hot and dry near Denver. I took a walk around the neighborhood this afternoon - hot sun, warm wind. Just over 22 C. Poor Ziggy has been getting her winter coat. She can't help that, so she is inside with the air conditioning during the hottest part of the day. There was a time when our fire season ended in early September as storms with rain and snow blew through. That was years ago. Things have changed. Now, we are only halfway through wildfire season, and it may be December or January before we get enough precipitation for peace of mind. But there are still flowers blooming! Home from the vet! Ziggy is sitting in the living room, bewildered by how quickly that trip went. This was her third arthritis shot, so no vet needed - the technician was able to do her shot within minutes. And it was lucky we had that option! Due to animals who came in with infectious diseases, they had closed 2 rooms for sanitation, and the lobby was full of dogs waiting for their appointments. So, Ziggy was very happy when the technician whisked her away. Her arthritis shots really seem to be helping. So nice to see her doing zoomies again. .

True talent here - Loungy Guard. Ziggy is both lounging and keeping an eye on a 14-year old dog that is smaller than her. .

Bulbs! The bulbs I ordered this summer from High Country Gardens have arrived! There are two of everything - one set for each planter. I knew I needed to get mulch, but it turns out I need more dirt and peat moss, too. So, the bulbs for the second planter will have to wait. Of course, my diligent supervisor provided oversight to the operations. .

Dreaming of warm sunny skies in Mexico. I assume they will migrate within a couple of weeks.

Good morning! All 3 baby birds were huddled on the porch this morning. One went for a fly. The other 2 had breakfast brought to them. The 53 deg weather (11.6 deg C) is probably making them wish they were ready to migrate to Mexico. It should be warmer tomorrow. And we still have a cat. With all the fuss over the birds, she wants to make sure we remember.

The 3 baby birds went for a fly and then came back to the doorstep. Their parents have been feeding them. Hopefully, they make their way back to the nest this evening.
