Winter fuzz is coming in. We had a couple of weeks of cooler weather that seems to have sparked Ziggy's refuzzening. Even though it is only 84 deg (29 C) today, it is too hot too roll in her sunbeam. She opted for a brief bath and the shade after aborting a roll with one foot in the air.

Observing breakfast.... I saw a very exasperated Mama Swallow sitting on the baby gate last night. Not making her usual sounds, just sitting there. "Stubborn, huh?" She looked at me, tilted her head. "Maybe they'll fly tomorrow." She looked at me and then flew to the neighbors' porch for the night. The nest is too full for her to spend the night with the baby birds. She was busy feeding them breakfast this morning while Ziggy and I were hanging out in the designated safety zone on the lawn.

Just eating grass... Mama Swallow reminded Ziggy that spot is not in the designated safety zone. Little does she know there is no way Ziggy can jump the barrier I put up, so the babies are safe from cat-erference.

Surveillance footage - this is the "get out of the nest" dance that the barn swallows do a couple of days before the babies fly. Mama's demand was met with a resounding "no!" from the babies ....but soon.

A little sun is all that is needed in this 90 deg (32 C) heat. We were outside for 3 minutes. It has been hot and dry. Hoping that we will get some relief from the weather soon to help everyone fighting a wildfire 50 miles (about 82 km) north of here. It has been spreading quickly with growing areas of evacuations. 😿🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Monday morning munchies ...and super fan siting. Ziggy went out with me and even saw her super fan. Ok, super fan was excited to see Ziggy. Ziggy retreated a few steps closer to me. There is a large golden doodle who lives a few doors down who is in love with cats and definitely loves Ziggy. She gets so excited every time she sees her, but her owner keeps her at distance as she strains and stares. We are assuming the relationship would not be what the doggie thinks it would be should she get closer to Ziggy. Would hate to disappoint a super fan. 😄

There was one door we hadn't tried....just in case, Ziggy asked to go out the basement door onto the lower deck. It turns out there was wind there, too! 🙀🙀🙀🌬️🌬️🌬️

At the vet for her monthly arthritis shot. This trip has been given two paws down 1) it's 2 hours earlier than our normal afternoon appointment time 2) it's raining 3) there's a train! 🙀😾🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃

Ziggy was only outside long enough to realize I was telling the truth about our wind storm 80 mph (129 kmh) gusts with 20 mph (32 kmh) sustained winds since 3 am last night. Should be over around 10 pm (20:00) tonight.
