Some of you will recall that I ran away to Canada for my 40th birthday. The joke at the time was that it was my co-workers' fault. Back on the P-992 project, when our friend Bill turned 40, they were brutal. Black balloons, stuff for dentures, and more that I won't list here. When my birthday rolled around, I announced I was not only leaving the country, but headed to a remote enough location that I was sure no one would follow. My coworkers were disappointed they would be missing my big day. Bill told them, "That's because she saw what you did to me!" ... which was not the whole reason, but also not untrue. Anyhow, why fix what's not broken? Another milestone birthday, another trip to Canada!
The plan...

Our plane! We had a smooth flight to Edmonton. It takes just over 2 hours to get there.

Very different landscape...

Our hotel in Edmonton was near the West Edmonton mall, which is the Canadian version of "Mall of America".

For dinner, we adventured all the way across the parking lot. Lovely dinner.

After dinner, we checked out a local grocery store. It's true... all the brands are trying to out-Canada each other.

If I lived here, this might be the only toilet paper I would ever try...so cute

As Ms. Girard (my French teacher on Long Island) would always say, "En Francais!" Enjoyed seeing both languages on coke cans.

Weird wine bottle shape...
