Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa (Grandma Buzzo's parents) reading a 1943 newspaper:
In this picture, he is reading a book called "See Here, Private Hargrove". A few descriptions:
See Here, Private Hargrove is the title of a book by journalist Marion Hargrove, published in 1942. It is the author's personal story about becoming a soldier. Published during World War II, the light-hearted book was a hit with readers, spending 15 weeks atop the New York Times Best Seller list. It was still in print 50 years after its original publication date. The story was made into a film in 1944 and starred Robert Walker, Robert Benchley and Keenan Wynn.
Journalist Marion Hargrove enters the Army intending to supplement his income by writing about his training experiences. He muddles through basic training at Fort Bragg with the self-serving help of a couple of buddies intent on cutting themselves in on that extra income.
