We had a wonderful evening at the Cat Care Society's Tails of the Painted Cats dinner and auction! It's great to see so
much support for the shelter, and we enjoyed getting to hang out with my parents. The Tails of Painted Cats is a significant
fundraiser for the Cat Care Society - donors sponsor artists to paint the cats, the cats are used for publicity around the Denver
area all year, and then they are auctioned off at the fundraiser dinner at the Pinehurst Country Club. This year's fundraiser
raised $106,000 for the shelter - a record for them! The Cat Care Society is a no-kill shelter where the cats are free to roam.
They specialize in helping special needs cats - with behavioral or medical problems - get the help they need so they can be
successfully adopted. We got Chloe, Braveheart, Cirrus, and Muggins through CCS.
We sponsored Koi Kat last year, and enjoyed talking with the artist, Jill McFarland, during the dinner. The sponsorship
covers the materials for the cat - Jill donated her time to create it, with the koi in her friend's pond as an inspiration.
She also volunteers at the shelter.
Here we are at the silent auction with Koi Kat!
Here's a great picture of me and Mike from the Care Care Society! (with my and on the far right)

Some of the cats designated for the live auction:
Afrikat... really cool. sold for $13,000 at live auction! All of that money goes to the Cat Care Society.
Live auction cats:
Mike and my dad:
Dia de los muertos cat, Catrina. Mike's favorite... but a little out of the budget. Sold for $4,000 during the live auction.
My mom, checking out the live auction cats.
This is another cool live auction cat. The artist used a combination of acrylic and oil-based paints to get the overlay effect.
Looking out over the Pinehurst country club:
Pretty awesome idea - this cat has an embedded lighting system:
