Giza

The following day, Jarl ventured out toward the pyramids.

Going to the Pyramids

Jarl traveled to the pyramids via guide and camel. Here's the view from "Camel Cam":

This picture shows what the city of Giza looks like from the desert:

And here are some pictures of Jarl, his guide, and the well-dressed camel:

The Pyramids of Giza

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the only wonder of the "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World" that still exists. You can find more information on the pyramids at http://ce.eng.usf.edu/pharos/wonders/pyramid.html, http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildings/Great_Pyramid.html and http://www.culturefocus.com/egypt_pyramids.htm.

Jarl said that one of the things he found amazing was that the pyramids were so large, you lost perspective once you were very close to the walls. These pictures hopefully show how the pyramid starts to look like a regular wall at close range. The first one was taken by the guide of Jarl standing on the wall (roughly centered), and the second Jarl took of a corner of the pyramid.

You've probably seen replicas, but the real thing was very very large!
